RESEARCH
We documented the effects of several of our performance workshops on the students who worked on the projects

AUDIENCE TESTIMONIALS
At a recent performance we asked our audience of Preschool Head Start students what they thought of the show. Some drew us pictures, some gave us quotes. Students saw dancers and characters that looked like them. The processing and representation that these students experience all contributes to a positive engagement with ballet.

“Today I saw people dancing. I saw two boys in the story and one girl dancing
ballet. She looked happy.”
-Angel, 4 year old Head Start student
“That is the ballet dancer on the stage.
She told us a story. I liked the dancing.”
-Noona, 4 year old Head Start student

“I saw a mommy and a teacher. I saw a ballet girl dancing.”
-Camila, 3 year old Head Start student
“This is the stage and that is Raymonda.
She is dancing for her husband for a gift.”
-Arianna, 4 year old Head Start student

STUDENT TESTIMONIALS
Our current Rogue Swan students are immigrant students who have recently come to the U.S. from different parts of the world. They are high schoolers and most have never seen ballet before. Studying ballet has so much to offer not only as a sport and art form but also in academic subjects like History and English and confidence building including life skills.

“It helped me a lot with myself because it is a way where I could learn more English. And thank you very much for paying attention to me in that way. Thanks for everything!”
-Dulce L., Rogue Swan Student
“It was awesome when I saw my work in the story. It makes me feel so happy because it was something that I have never done before. It was a good project to do with my classmates.”
-Steven, Rogue Swan Student

“Watching the performance with my work and the ballet dancer brought to me a special emotion. After this project I will be searching more about ballet and watching videos and performances.”
-Andy, Rogue Swan Student
“When I first made my drawing for the project I thought it was ugly. Now when I saw it at the show on the screen I thought it looked beautiful. It made me happy when I saw my work.”
